KABUL: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Lt Gen (R) Bilal Akbar has stressed the need for negotiations to get peaceful solution to Afghan problem.
He was speaking at the Islamic Conference of Declaration of Peace in Afghanistan Conference in Makkah on Thursday.
The conference has been sponsored by Saudi Arabia, which seeks reconciliation among Afghani factions, and an end to ongoing fighting in the country.
Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and other scholars, including Pakistani and Afghan ambassador to Saudi Arabia and permanent representatives of the two countries to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation are also attending the moot.
Bilal Akbar praised the Kingdom for hosting the event, and said that it was high time to cash on the opportunity and bring peace to the war torn country.
He said Afghanistan has suffered a lot due to war, its infrastructure devastated, and today we seek solution to the ongoing problem through peaceful dialogues.
