Taliban To Beijing: “Will Never Allow Use of Afghan Soil Against China”

DOHA: Afghan Taliban have re-assured China that they will never allow any force to use the Afghan territory to engage in acts detrimental to Beijing’s sovereignty and security.

This re-assurance was given during a phone call between Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Head of Taliban Political Office in Qatar and Wu Jianghao, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister.

Hanafi said “China is Afghanistan’s trustful friend, and the Taliban are willing to continue to develop friendly ties between China and Afghanistan.” He said “Afghan Taliban will never allow any force to use the Afghan territory to engage in acts detrimental to China.”

Abdul Salam Hanafi, on behalf of the Afghan Taliban, expressed willingness to support and participate the Belt and Road Initiative, saying that China-proposed BRI is favorable to Afghanistan and regional prosperity.
