PESHAWAR: Authorities shut down Torkham border Wednesday morning after mortar attack from across the Afghan border.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement that two mortar shells were fired from the Afghanistan side of the border Wednesday morning. No casualties were reported but the border crossing was closed for security reason.
FO spokesperson said they are raising the issue with the Afghan government. We hope to reopen the border soon.
Local sources at Torkham said the mortars were fired from Afghan side and landed near FC check post. One of the shell exploded near Iqbal FC Check Post, but resulted in no casualty.
