KARACHI: The Sindh government prosecutor had actually opposed granting bail to Capt (R) Safdar, husband of PMLN leader Maryam Nawaz, during the course of hearing in Karachi City Court.
A document, the copy of which has now been obtained by the Regional Telegraph, reveals that the prosecutor for Sindh government as well as the learned counsel for complainant had unanimously opposed granting bail to Capt (R) Safdar, arguing that the accused (Capt Safdar) was nominated in FIR with specific role who had acted against the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid.
They both had further submitted that section 506-B was non-bailable in nature leveled against Capt (R) Safdar and contents of the same attracted with the prosecution.
Capt (R) Safdar, it may be recalled, was granted bail on Monday by Karacih City court, hours after his arrest, by a judicial magistrate against surety bonds of Rs100,000 in Karachi.
He was arrested the same morning for chanting slogans at the grave of Quaid-e-Azam before PDM’s Jalsa a day earlier.
